"Can Vies" was one of the most squatering centers in Barcelona. In the neighbourhood of "Sants", "Can Vies" was sheltering activities for the neighbours and social movements in Barcelona in the last 15 years.

In 28th of may of 2014, an eviction promoted by the City Hall of Barcelona hapenned. Police found heavy resistence by some neighbours and avtivists. After some hard actions by police began in Barcelona a week of heavy riots in order to try to stop the eviction and the shuting down of the building.

Even and excavator machine who began the shuting down had been burned to stop it.

After this week of riots the City Hall decided to stop the demolition and a heavy number of people began the reconstruction by their own hands.
